33 people have died from flooding in seven southern provinces, government spokesperson Siripong Angkasakulkiat said today (26 November) in a press conference held by the Flood Crisis Operations Centre.

In September 2024, flash floods and landslides devastated the Huai Hin Lad Nai village, an Indigenous Karen community named Thailand's first Indigenous way of life protection zone. Vendors in Warorot Market in downtown Chiang Mai have returned to their shops after flood waters retreated from Chiang Mai’s downtown to damaged merchandise and shops, with several estimating the damage to their shops to be in the six figures.

For the past several days, Chiang Mai has been experiencing a once-in-decades flood, and although flood waters have retreated from most of the city center, worsening conditions are anticipated for downstream areas like Saraphi district and several districts in Lamphun province.
