To our audience, sponsors, and fellow media, The Office of the National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC) has issued an order suspending Voice TV broadcasting for 15 days.  Voice TV affirms that we have performed our duty as media with journalistic ethics in pursuit of providing impartial information in the best interests of our audience and society.

  Military officers directly ordered a newspaper not to publish a story on an anti-coup group, according to a Vice-President of the Thai Journalist Association (TJA).   On Tuesday 24 June, military officers reportedly visited the newsroom of a newspaper and instructed the editorial staff not to report the establishment of Free Thais for Human Rights and Democracy (FTHD), an anti-coup group in exile.

The professional membership of the Foreign Correspondents’ Club of Thailand is deeply concerned by the detention of journalists by the new military authorities in Thailand, following the imposition of martial law on Tuesday and a full coup d’etat on Thursday.   Thanapol Eawsakul, the editor of Same Sky magazine, was arrested following an anti-coup protest on Friday.

  The National Peace and Order Maintenance Council (NPOMC), a special security body led by coup maker Army Chief Prayuth Chan-ocha, announced several orders early on Friday morning which aim at limiting the freedom of expression and information of Thai citizens.   These measures were added after many TV channels and radio stations were forced to stop broadcasting their own programmes and only relay signals from the army’s TV and radio stations.
