The Thai Journalists Association (TJA) has condemned the use of Information Operations (IO) to intimidate a reporter after she asked the Commander of the 4th Army Region during a press conference about the Army’s possible involvement in the assassination attempt on a Deep South MP.

Thai authorities should urgently, thoroughly, and impartially investigate the assassination attempt on Kamonsak Leewamoh, a Muslim member of parliament and prominent human rights lawyer, Human Rights Watch said on 10 April.

Demands have been raised for a prompt investigation into an attack on Kamonsak Leewamoh, a Prachachat MP for Narathiwat, after it was found that the truck used by his attackers belonged to the Internal Security Operations Command (ISOC).

Kamonsak Leewamoh, a Prachachat MP for Narathiwat, is reported to be unharmed after attackers opened fire on his vehicle earlier this morning (20 March).
