The European Union (EU) has launched a new programme titled “Supporting Thailand’s Transition to Self-Reliance & Inclusion: Preparing Myanmar Displaced Persons for Inclusive Future”, with a total financial support of EUR 15 million (approx. THB 570 million).

The European External Action Service (EEAS), the UN Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (UNOHCHR), and the foreign affairs departments of at least five countries have issued statements condemning the Constitutional Court’s decision to dissolve the Move Forward Party and ban its leaders from politics for 10 years as a setback to political pluralism in Thailand.

<p>Following the <a href="https://prachatai.com/english/node/8375">dissolution</a> of the Future Forward Party (FFP) on Friday (21 February), several human rights organizations, along with the European Union External Action Service (EEAS) and the Embassy of the United States in Thailand, have spoken out against the Constitutional Court&rsquo;s decision to dissolve the popular opposition party, a decision which has been seen as damaging to the country&rsquo;s return to democracy and as disenfranchising a large number of voters.</p>
