The International Criminal Court (ICC) prosecutor’s request for an arrest warrant for Myanmar military commander-in-chief, Sr. Gen. ASEAN Parliamentarians for Human Rights (APHR). calls on Southeast Asian governments to support a new convention on crimes against humanity to ensure that states are responsible for for preventing and prosecuting these crimes, since a lack of a global convention has allowed such atrocities to continue unchecked, including in Southeast Asia.

<p>ASEAN Parliamentarians for Human Rights (APHR) called on ASEAN to take urgent actions after the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) submitted a report to the UN Human Rights Council which found that the Myanmar military has committed human rights abuses that may amount to war crimes and crimes against humanity.</p>
