A Thammasat University student has been released after staging a solo protest against the attendance of Myanmar junta leader Senior General Min Aung Hlaing at the 6th BIMSTEC summit taking place in Bangkok. No charges were filed against him.

The Thai government has come under criticism for inviting a globally denounced war criminal, Myanmar military junta leader Min Aung Hlaing, to attend the 6th Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation (BIMSTEC) summit in Bangkok.

Civil society in Thailand and Myanmar have called on the Thai government to exclude the Myanmar military leader Min Aung Hlaing from the 6th BIMSTEC summit, which Thailand is set to host on 3-4 April.
