According to Matichon online, Pol Maj Gen Vichai Sangprapai, Commander of the 1st Metropolitan Police, said on 31 March that the police had been asked to bring Sondhi Limthongkul to the prosecutor by 2 April.

Sondhi, leader of the People’s Alliance for Democracy and the New Politics Party, has been charged with lèse majesté for repeating on the PAD stage on 20 July 2008 the public speeches of Daranee Charnchoengsilpakul, who was convicted to 18 years in jail in August last year.

Sondhi has not yet made any contact with the police, the commander said.

Sondhi can ask for a postponement, but the police are obliged to give their comments to the prosecutor whether he intends to delay the process or not.  If his given reason is not justified, the prosecutor can ask the police to issue an arrest warrant against him with court permission.
