<p>The family of missing activist in exile <a href="https://prachatai.com/english/category/wanchalearm-satsaksit">Wanchalearm Satsaksit</a> has filed a complaint with the Cambodian authorities calling for legal proceedings against the group of armed people who abducted Wanchalearm.</p>

<p>The family of missing activist in exile Wanchalearm Satsaksit has filed a complaint with the Thai Office of the Attorney General, the Ministry of Justice&rsquo;s Rights and Liberties Protection Department, and the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC), calling for an investigation into his disappearance, while also preparing to file a complaint with the Cambodian police.</p>

<p>People gathered in Bangkok to commemorate the World Refugee Day, 20 June, raising the issue of the recent disappearance case of an exiled Thai activist in Phnom Penh.</p>

<p>The Thai government&rsquo;s inadequate response to the enforced disappearance of&nbsp;pro-democracy activist Wanchalerm Satsaksit demonstrates its failure to protect human rights defenders and other dissenting voices, Asian Forum for Human Rights and Development (FORUM-ASIA) and Asia Democracy Network said today.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Human rights activists, legal experts and politicians are demanding laws to protect citizens from enforced disappearance while calling on the Thai and Cambodian governments to show responsibility for the disappearance of Thai dissident Wanchalearm Satsaksit.</p>

<p>Six people who participated in the demonstration in front of the Cambodian Embassy last Monday (8 June) to call for the authorities to address the disappearance of activist in exile <a href="https://prachatai.com/english/node/8561">Wanchalearm Satsaksit</a> have been summoned by the police on Emergency Decree charges, said <a href="https://www.tlhr2014.com/?p=18477&amp;fbclid=IwAR1y3R-g4OcSqZjiET8QYgqmSsp1fvTljo5XtvhuqVSDzoew_ixam0y-zQM">Thai Lawyers for Human Rights (TLHR)</a>.</p>

<p>The Committee on Enforced Disappearances has submitted a request to the Cambodian state to take urgent action in the case of Wanchalearm Satsaksit.</p>

<p>Police have pressed charges against three students for violation of the Cleanliness Act and failing to carry their national identification cards after they attempted to tie white ribbons at various locations around Bangkok to protest against the abduction in Cambodia of Thai activist Wanchalearm Satsaksit.</p>

<p>Following the recent abduction of Thai political activist Wanchalerm Satsakit in Phnom Penh, regional MPs are today calling on the Cambodian and Thai authorities to investigate the case and ensure his safety as a matter of urgency.&nbsp;</p>
