A flyer battle began when authorities attempted to prohibit pro-democracy activists from handing out flyers campaigning to ‘vote no’ in the August referendum while junta volunteers ‘explaining’ the draft constitution faced resistance from local people.

Thai police have detained 16 activists for standing still to show solidarity with 10 persons abducted earlier by the military. One of the 16 was later taken away by the military after the arrest.
Police officers at about 6:30 pm on Wednesday, 27 April 2016, arrested 16 people for gathering at the Victory Monument in Bangkok and standing still to show solidarity with 10 people abducted by the military on Wednesday morning.

About 20 police officers, most in plainclothes, have been deployed at the entrance to a Bangkok safe house of 11 of 14 student activists wanted on arrest warrants for protesting.
The 11 are wanted on arrest warrants for commemorating the first anniversary of the coup at the Bangkok Art and Culture Centre and in Khon Kaen on 22 May.
Rangsiman Rome, one of the 11, told Prachatai that they will not resist arrest as this fight is coming to an end.

At least four student activists who last week were detained for an attempt to commemorate the first anniversary of the military coup were summoned to hear charges for violating the junta’s order.
The police accused the student activists of violating the junta’s National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO) which prohibits an assembly of more than five people.

The Thai police issued summon orders for at least two students who participated in an activity to commemorate the 2014 coup d’état, saying that the students allegedly breaking the junta’s protest ban.

At least 34 people arrested on Friday evening for commemorating the coup were released without charge, on condition that they stop political activities. However, student activists in Khon Kaen face charges and were released on 7,500 baht bail.
The first arrests occurred about 6 pm after a group of students gathered at the Bangkok Art and Culture Centre (BACC), Siam Square.

In a bid to stop the political activities of student activists, military officers have intimidated 17 student activists by paying visits to their homes, dorms, and parent’s homes.
The Thai Student Centre for Democracy (TSCD), a student activist group, on Wednesday revealed on the group’s Facebook page that since 19 March, 17 student activists have been intimidated by military officers who came to visit their homes.
