<p>Thailand&rsquo;s rating remains &lsquo;Not Free&rsquo; in Freedom House&rsquo;s 2022 <a href="https://freedomhouse.org/report/freedom-world/2022/global-expansion-authoritarian-rule">Freedom in the World</a> report, with its score dropping from last year&rsquo;s 30 out of 100 to 29, while the report notes a global threat to freedom and democracy and the expansion of authoritarian regimes.&nbsp;</p>

<p>7 out of 9 activists who pleaded by the police for temporary detention for surveying public perceptions of royal motorcades have been released on bail.</p>

<p>The state&rsquo;s strict stance guarding royal processions has been underlined once again as an activist was arrested and charged with lèse majesté and violation of the Computer Crime Act for live-streaming herself at a royal procession and questioning the priorities of the police and the King as protesters were cleared from the route.&nbsp;</p>

<p>A man was sentenced on Friday (4 March 2022) to 3 years in prison on a royal defamation charge for putting a sticker on a portrait of King Vajiralongkorn in front of the Supreme Court during a protest on 19 September 2020.</p>

<p>Ravisara Eksgool, who was charged with royal defamation for reading out a statement during the 26 October 2020 protest at the German Embassy, has had her request to leave the country to study overseas denied twice by the South Bangkok Criminal Court over fears that she will flee the country.</p>

<p>Activist Tantawan &ldquo;Tawan&rdquo; Tuatulanon was arrested on Saturday (26 February 2022), after she conducted a poll on whether the royal defamation law should be repealed and attempted to deliver the poll result to the Grand Palace.</p>

<p>Activist and human rights lawyer Anon Nampa remains in detention, after he was denied bail by the South Bangkok Criminal Court despite being granted bail by other courts, while student activist Parit Chiwarak was released yesterday (24 February 2022) after his lawyer presented evidence of his enrolment at Thammasat University.</p>

<p>A protest on Sunday (20&nbsp;February 2022) at Tha Pae gate in Chiang Mai city called for the repeal of the royal defamation law, or Section 112 of the Thai Criminal Code.</p>

<p>A 22-year-old woman said police officers visited her at home after she went to observe a <a href="https://prachatai.com/english/node/9689">poll on royal motorcades</a> conducted by a group of activists on 8 February 2022.</p>
